Incinerate concentrate instead of water – treatment of toxic wastewater
At a major pharmaceutical company in southern Germany, a new production facility for active substances for cancer treatment is to be built in the near future. The resulting cleaning waters are only mildly contaminated but must be incinerated due to their toxicity, which is extremely energy-intensive.
The solution is an evaporator system that concentrates the wastewater. The volume of concentrate requiring incineration is thereby significantly reduced and the treated distillate can be discharged into the sewer.
Eisenmann Environmental Technology is delivering the complete system here, including storage management and cleaning systems.

The measures
The challenges include, among others:
- Ensuring production at all times with a sophisticated redundancy concept
- Delivery of the 5 storage tanks in sections with final assembly on site under confined conditions
- Complex system design for automatic decontamination of toxically contaminated system components
- Completely closed tank system with a special exhaust air concept
Assembly commences at end of 2026
